Our Mission

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in New Zealand dedicates itself to advancing Sri Lanka's national interests through proactive diplomatic, political, trade & economic, and cultural engagement.  We intend to fulfil this mission across four core pillars:

1. Diplomatic & Strategic Partnership - Strengthening bilateral, government-to-government relations based on mutual respect and shared global and regional priorities.  Collaborating with New Zealand on key areas of mutual interest, including education, sustainability initiatives, sports development, and agriculture.

2. Economic & Trade Promotion - Actively identifying opportunities to expand trade, encourage foreign direct investment (FDI), and build commercial linkages between businesses.  Promoting Sri Lanka as a premier, sustainable travel destination for visitors from New Zealand.

3. Consular Excellence & Citizen Services - Delivering efficient, accessible, and reliable consular services—including passport, visa, dual citizenship, birth, marriage, and death registration, and attestation of legal documents—to all applicants.  Safeguarding the welfare, rights, and interests of Sri Lankan nationals residing in, working in, or visiting New Zealand. 

4. People to people contacts & Cultural Engagement - Engaging actively with the expatriate Sri Lankan community in New Zealand, supporting their integration, and valuing their contribution to both nations.  Fostering public diplomacy and cultural exchanges to share Sri Lanka’s vibrant heritage, history, diversity, traditions, and diverse values.
