The High Commission of Sri Lanka in New Zealand successfully conducted its first-ever Consular Mobile Service in Hamilton, New Zealand, bringing consular services closer to the Sri Lankan community.
The Consular Mobile Service was carried out under the leadership of the Mr. Prasanna Gamage, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to New Zealand, with the participation of officials of the High Commission, serving more than 100 Sri Lankan nationals.
As part of the Consular Mobile Service, the High Commissioner participated as the Chief Guest at the community networking event organised by the Sri Lankan community in Hamilton. The High Commissioner Gamage made a detailed presentation, explaining the role and functions of the High Commission, and engaged in an interactive session with the audience. He also presented certificates of appreciation to Dr. Udaya Samarakkody, MNZM, in recognition of her appointment as a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit and her outstanding services to paediatric surgery and unwavering dedication to the Sri Lankan community in the Waikato region over more than three decades and Mr. Saveen Gunarathne, MStJ, in recognition of being awarded Member of the Order of St John, and in appreciation of his outstanding service and exceptional dedication to humanitarian and community service.
